Portes Baillargeon has been able to improve efficiency and decrease labor costs by substantially increasing availability.
Portes Baillargeon is a family-owned business founded in 1985 that was acquired by the Masonite Group in March 2012. It specializes in the design, manufacture and marketing of architectural, institutional and commercial wood doors and jambs. It has been using TileBoard for a year and a half. Internal TileBoard champion Jonathan Turcotte had a tough job, but he managed to gradually implement smart factory technologies throughout the company.
Just 6 months after TileBoard was set up on the production floor, tangible results could already be seen: average availability had gone up by 11%; overall productivity had also been positively affected, with more than a 20% increase in units per hour; and direct labor costs had been dramatically reduced by almost 16%.
You don’t have to convince me of the benefits of using TileBoard, which has already proven its worth and has tremendous potential to improve our performance even more. The challenge really has to do with implementing and managing change. We sometimes don’t have enough time or resources, but we are ready to take the bull by the horns and become even better! - Jonathan Turcotte, Plant Manager
